The Ova Method
By combining acupuncture, Chinese dietary therapy, and herbal medicine, the body’s natural balance and hormonal function can be restored. In doing so, patients learn to optimize their lifestyle choices, thus increasing their physical and emotional well-being, as well as reducing stress. At OVA Health, science and nature converge in the practice of acupuncture.
At Ova Health, our wellness professionals share the same mission: to help you align, heal, and feel your best.
The term energy medicine refers to the wide range of healing modalities used to diagnose and treat illness by manipulating the energy—the vital life force referred to as “qi” in traditional Chinese medicine—that pulses through the cells of our bodies. Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing, which we practice in a thoroughly modern way.
Chinese medicine is energy medicine.
Acupuncture sends an energetic stimulus to the body that restores its natural balance.
Your individual ‘point prescription’ acts as a code that relays information energetically via the fascia and through energetic neural and sinew pathways throughout the body.
Benefits of Acupuncture:
Promotes Healing: Offering a small electrical prompt to the body to restore homeostasis & balance.
Releases Blockage: Releasing areas of blocked Qi which stimulates organ function & promotes health.
Improves Circulation: Promoting circulation in the body improves function where needed.
Decreases Pain: Acting as a natural analgesic acupuncture interrupts pain signaling.
Balances Body Chemistry: Influencing the body's biochemical responses via the nervous system.
Reduces Inflammation: Reducing pro inflammatory markets, or proteins, in the body.
The Science Behind Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China around 3,500 years ago and remains one of the oldest, most commonly used systems of healing in the world.
While Western medicine has not defined a single, widely accepted explanation of how acupuncture works, research shows that acupuncture points have distinctive electromagnetic properties.
These days, science can explain its effectiveness.
Connective tissue winds around the needles, increasing electrical conductivity.
Doppler ultrasound shows that acupuncture increases blood flow and circulation.
MRI readings demonstrate that acupuncture prompts observable changes in the brain.
Thermal imaging reveals that acupuncture reduces inflammation.
We combine different herbs to craft a personalized formula that addresses your unique symptom pattern and promotes healing.
Herbs are a safe and natural treatment for many common health conditions. Chinese herbs are prescribed by our board-certified herbalists and are dispensed as formulas, specially created to treat your symptoms as well as your constitutional diagnosis. Chinese Herbs, Vaginal Steam Baths, Scrubs, and Balms are used through our personalized treatments.
Bajo Pelvic Steams
Yoni steaming, or vaginal steaming, allows the warmth of an herbal steam to permeate the vulva. This allows an opportunity to balance and reconnect with your body, while using herbal medicine to heal imbalances in your cycle.
Bajo Pelvic Steams have been found by women throughout history to:
Significantly reduce pain, bloating and exhaustion associated with menstruation.
Decrease menstrual flow as well as reduce dark purple or brown blood at the onset or end of menses.
Regulate irregular or absent menstrual cycles.
Increase fertility, especially when combined with abdominal fertility massage.
